Bathing John Malkovich

Not a whole lot of running going on lately. I've moved from primarily working out on the elliptical machines to the spin bike. The change has been nice and it has been surprisingly easy to get my heart rate up and keep it up on the bike. I've also been doing some jump rope which has also surprised me with the level of intensity.

I've had two appointments with Toni Dauwalter at Accelerated Sports as well as three massage therapy appointments. The massage has really loosened up some chronically tight areas. The lingering pain in my hamstring is almost gone. It is looking like the hamstring isn't really the issue, but rather my gluteus/piriformis/sciatic nerve that is causing the referred pain. I'm on a regimen of core and gluteus focused exercises. Maybe I'll be able to run a few steps in a couple weeks, but for now I'll have to be happy with the bike/elliptical.

Patience is a virtue I continue to repeat to myself. I'm at the point where I'd rather be running pain-free down the road than managing the pain right now.
